PDE Guest lecture series: Haim Algranati

About the speaker: 

An artist, philosopher, designer, a truly Renaissance man! Born in Israel, Haim Algranati came to England in 1980 to study instrument-making, and that is where he became the student of David Lipkin, an instrument maker. From a young age, he has been passionate about sound and music. Becoming a luthier enabled the channelling and fusing of his creative talents. His ability to improvise, break with tradition and be flexible, result in rich, beautiful and powerful instruments. Algranati has been making stringed instruments for the last 30 years for a great variety of musicians from classical to pop, Baroque and Rock artists.

Topic of lecture: "WE ARE DRIVEN BY SOUND, NOT BY FORMULAE"

He will be bringing some musical instruments along to the lecture for students and staff to examine in more detail.

The lecture will be from 3.30-4.30pm with Q&A after in Warren Lecture Theatre at TP. Please be in your seats by 3.20pm for a prompt start at 3.30pm.
