Sketchbooks exhibition in the library

The exhibition currently showing on the Ground Floor of The Sheppard Library is a celebration of the sketchbook and shows the work of students from the Illustration programme and staff members across art and design disciplines based in the Grove.

You can see the variety of media (pencil, crayon, ink, biro paper, card, fabric) and many techniques which capture a moment, a movement, an idea, an experiment or a train of thought. Caught between pages were scribbled shopping lists, song lyrics, tickets, and dried leaves, so the sketchbook becomes an animated journal or a visual diary.

The exhibition continues downstairs in the Basement by showing some of the library’s material about creating and using sketchbooks, including titles by current members of staff or including work by them.

The exhibition runs until Christmas.
